Forbidden City

To create the rainy atmosphere in Forbidden City, the paint was literally washed off the canvas several times, before being dried with a rough paper towel to create the weather-beaten grainy effect. The barbed wire which gives the painting its title is applied with a heavy impasto using a palette knife and is heavily embossed from the canvas to create depth of field in the image.
