The source for Resting Wave was a photograph I took at Rest and be Thankful; a famous scenic spot in Argyll, Scotland, on the A83 between Artgartan and Cairndow. It has been a favourite spot of mine for many years and I've tried many times to capture its atmosphere on canvas. This one was interesting because although the composition of the landscape is taken from a photo, the cloud formation became an almighty wave in the painting, perhaps informed by the atmosphere and power of the place. |
