Winter Trees

A couple of years ago I spent Hogmanay (new year celebrations here in Scotland) in Argyll with friends and early on New Year's Day we walked along a cold canal and took some pictures of the trees reflected in the icy waters. Those photos informed this painting. It's not a direct representation but I tried to capture the cold crispness of the morning, the stillness of the trees, and the almost frozen liquid in which they are reflected.
